One of the first things you should do when you have an oven problem is to thoroughly check to see if you have already cleaned it. Cleaning a dry oven may be the way to go because the steam from cleaning it will clean the dirt out.

Dry ovens are those that have a tile, stone or glass bottom. You can remove the top if it is not too dirty or the cleaner might not work as well.

If you are unable to remove the top, use vinegar mixed with water to clean it. When the heat from the steam is gone, scrub down the inside of the oven with a damp sponge.

If you have a dirty old air filter, clean it and replace it. Air filters are one of the most common causes of dry ovens. It takes all the dust out and prevents your oven from drying out.

If you have a stone or tile surface, clean it. Do not use any liquid abrasives as they can scratch the surface. Use the sponge method and clean the area only.

If you find it difficult to clean the inside of the oven, spray it down with baking soda and water. Then scrub the oven with a stiff brush.

Once the surfaces are clean, start scrubbing the exterior with a stiff brush. Once the surface is clean, you can then remove the soap residue.

If you notice that your glass doors are discolored or dark, do not remove them until the problem is cleared up. Excess oils on the glass can cause it to darken.

Many people use ammonia to clean glass surfaces but this should be avoided because it can burn the skin. One of the best techniques is to take a soft cloth and lightly rub the glass with a product that is designed for just this.

Remember to clean all of the oven surfaces after each use. Even if you are doing a home oven cleaning project, you can be using it later without having to get rid of the clean ones.
